The world’s top Taekwondo talent will be flying out to China this weekend (July 4-6) to fight for world domination in the ring. In attendance will be Olympic champion Jade Jones and London 2012 bronze medallist Lutalo Muhammad along with an impressive GB team raring to go.
With Rio only two years away and Olympic qualification points up for grabs, the team are well aware of the importance of this latest World Grand Prix and will be pulling out all the punches.
Completing the team is recently crowned European champion Bianca Walkden, Grand Prix gold medallist Mahama Cho, 2012 European gold medallist and Beijing Olympian Michael Harvey, 2014 Luxor and Fuijairah Open champion Ruebyn Richards, plus 2014 European silver medallist Damon Sansum.
It has already been an incredibly busy year for team GB who had a gruelling Middle East tour earlier this year, the European Championships in Azerbaijan this May and recently ventured to the Swiss Open where they returned with gold medals.
Even though there are plenty of events on the horizon, Hall admits thoughts are already drifting to South America. “In two years time we will be just about to depart for Rio”, he said.
“All the athletes know it is coming closer. We are not in the final straight yet but we are about to hit the midway point. And these Grand Prixs carry very important ranking points.”
