Steve Lewis Talks R3

You can’t just tell someone to drive well; you need to teach them (ideally with the help of a skid pan). This is where R3Rockingham comes to the rescue! Allowing drivers to lose control in a monitored and measured environment, instructors can coach drivers on how to react in unexpected situations.

The R3 aim? For everyone to “Get there…and get there safely”.

Steve Lewis from R3 was recently interviewed by BBC Radio Northampton and shared some great advice on how to improve your driving and why a trip to Rockingham should be your next destination. Drivers even get to practise in their own vehicle, which has a much more memorable affect! Especially when tackling the dreaded (yet exhilarating) skid pan.

So who should attend this driving course? Everyone! R3 welcomes all drivers and even facilitate those below the legal driving age, ensuring those from age 14 who lack experience pick up good driving habits and instil these habits in other drivers, including family members and friends. Although we all take a driving test, we never stop learning and it’s never too late to learn something new (we can testify!).

R3 is perfect for fleet drivers who spend the majority of their time on the roads. Taking to the road is one of the most dangerous activities we partake in on a daily basis so it makes sense to be clued up. Not only could it make fleet drivers feel more comfortable whilst driving , it could also save companies money as R3 encourage and provide tips for more economical driving.

Did you know 96% of crashes are caused by driver error? Although weather conditions are contributing factors, when it comes to road accidents, ultimately humans are the cause.

We want to lessen the chance of human error and preparation is key before any journey. Remember to look well ahead, adopt a full beam mentality and always keep your eyes on the road! Don’t forget to maintain a two second gap between your vehicle and the one ahead, double this during rainy weather and increase this by a massive ten fold when the roads are snowy or icy.
