Charles Kim has been appointed as President, Kumho Tire Europe. Kim, who served as the company’s European Director of Marketing from mid-2011 to the end of 2012, took up his new post on March 2.

Renowned as a tough-talking but highly respected operator, Kim has been a Kumho employee for some 24 years. Following five years with the company in his native Korea, he was appointed Sales & Marketing Manager of Kumho Australia. He was then posted to the USA, where over the ensuing five years he held the posts of: Manager, Purchasing & Operation; Manager, Overseas Sales for North America; and Senior Manager for Marketing, Kumho North America, prior to serving in Europe. In early 2013 he moved to Vietnam, where he was responsible for planning, finance, human resources and sales at Kumho’s ultra-modern tyre plant.

Though relatively brief, Kim’s previous European sojourn left its mark. The TV and print campaigns he initiated have been successfully further developed, and his insistence that all territories contributed to the societies in which they were based led to a number of notable ‘good cause’ projects – for example in Germany where the company was a major donor to the charity SOS-Kinderdörfer and in the UK through his strong support for Kumho’s ‘Cash for Causes’ campaign.

Kim’s notable European track record and all-round global experience will boost still further the significant progress Kumho is making in the region. Under his leadership the organisation can look forward to an accelerated development of its sales and marketing operations in the key European markets, as well as important business areas such as Original Equipment supply.
